This full-time contract role focuses on supporting 4 low-incidence classrooms, including those serving students with life skills needs and autism, with a caseload of approximately 36–40 students. You’ll work in a collaborative educational environment dedicated to fostering each student’s independence and functional abilities.
Desired Qualifications and Experience:
- Valid OT licensure (required)
- COTA certification and experience in school-based settings preferred
- Demonstrated skills in both fine and gross motor interventions
- Prior experience in home health or healthcare environments is a plus
- Experience supporting students with complex needs or those in special education, such as life skills or autism programs
- Strong ability to adapt and modify activities to individual student needs
- Collaborative approach to working with educators, related services staff, and families
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct occupational therapy assessments and develop individualized plans for students
- Implement creative interventions targeting fine and gross motor skills to enhance participation and independence
- Work in close partnership with classroom teams to support student success in academic and functional activities
- Consult with teachers, aides, and families to provide strategies and support within various school routines
- Maintain documentation of therapy sessions, student progress, and communication with team members
- Provide training to staff to reinforce carryover of skills across settings
