Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) – School-Based Position


Dates :August 3, 2026 – May 28, 2027
Schedule: Full-Time, 40 Hours per Week
Daily Hours: 7:30 AM – 4:30 PM

Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) to join our school-based therapy team for the 2026–2027 school year. The COTA will provide occupational therapy services to students in grades 6–12 under the supervision of a licensed Occupational Therapist. This position offers the opportunity to support students in developing the functional, motor, sensory, and self-advocacy skills needed for academic success and independence.

Student Population

Students in Grades 6–12
Middle School and High School settings

Caseload: Caseload numbers have not yet been determined.

Responsibilities

* Implement occupational therapy treatment plans developed by the supervising Occupational Therapist.
* Provide direct therapy services in individual and group settings.
* Support students in developing fine motor, visual-motor, sensory processing, executive functioning, and daily living skills.
* Collect data and document student progress toward IEP goals.
* Collaborate with teachers, administrators, and related service providers to support student success.
* Assist with screenings, observations, and therapy-related assessments as directed by the Occupational Therapist.
* Participate in team meetings and contribute to student-centered planning.
* Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with district, state, and federal requirements.

Qualifications

* Associate degree from an accredited Occupational Therapy Assistant program.
* Current Certified Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) certification and state licensure.
* Previous experience in pediatric, adolescent, or school-based settings preferred.
* Strong communication, organizational, and collaboration skills.
* Ability to work effectively with students from diverse backgrounds and with varying needs.
