Make a meaningful impact by providing dedicated support to students with significant needs in a Multiple Disabilities Support (MDS) Level B classroom for the 2026–2027 school year. This contract opportunity is located at the Lehigh Learning Achievement School’s LCEA Program, conveniently accessible from anywhere within a 35-minute commute. This vital position offers a unique balance between personal fulfillment and skill-building in a collaborative special education environment.
Key Qualifications & Experience
- Minimum of 1 year of experience as a paraprofessional, instructional assistant, or similar role, preferably in special education
- Meets one of the following PA paraprofessional qualification requirements: 48 college credits, an associate degree or higher, or successful completion of a competency assessment (or ability to complete within 60 days of hire)
- Willingness and ability to work with students who may display challenging behaviors such as hitting, biting, and elopement
- Comfort providing personal care, supporting communication, assisting with classroom routines, and following safety protocols
- Commitment to full-time school-day availability (approximately 7:00 AM–3:30 PM), beginning with limited hours for Opening Day and Summer Academy August 10, and transitioning to regular hours in late August
What You’ll Do
- Assist students in all classroom activities, from academics to daily living tasks
- Deliver hands-on support for personal care, mobility, hygiene, and sensory needs
- Respond calmly and consistently to challenging behaviors, using positive interventions
- Work closely with teachers and specialists to foster a safe, supportive learning environment
- Help facilitate classroom transitions and communication supports as needed
