Make a positive difference each day by supporting students as a Paraprofessional specializing in visual impairment needs. In this rewarding contract role, you’ll work full-time hours (7:30am – 3:30pm) in a respected academy dedicated to serving students who are blind or have low vision. While this school has ties to the metro Atlanta area, all work takes place in Macon, GA, so daily travel to and from Macon is expected.

As a crucial staff member, you’ll help create an engaging, accessible learning environment for visually impaired students. You will collaborate closely with educators, therapists, and other support staff to ensure students’ academic and social success.

Desired Qualifications:

• Active Georgia Paraprofessional Certification (must have passed the Paraprofessional GACE and hold current certification)
• Experience working as a paraprofessional, ideally in a school setting
• Understanding of the needs of students with visual impairments or a strong willingness to learn
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Able to commit to a full-time, Monday through Friday schedule
• Willingness to commute daily to Macon, GA

Responsibilities:

• Provide classroom support under the direction of teachers, with a focus on accessibility for visually impaired students
• Assist with instructional activities, adapted materials, and specialized learning tools
• Support students in navigating the school environment and developing independence
• Foster a positive, inclusive classroom culture
• Help implement Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) and collaborate with specialists
