Key Qualifications:
- Must hold Highly Qualified Para status, demonstrated by passing the MN Board Para Educator Exam or completion of at least 60 college credits (official transcripts required, diplomas/degree documents do not qualify)
- Experience in special education settings, particularly with students who have significant behavioral challenges or severe disabilities, is strongly preferred
- Willingness to support students with toileting and personal care needs as part of daily responsibilities
- Comfortable working with a high-needs population in a Setting 4 environment
- Ability to build trust and rapport with students of varying ages (elementary to high school); please note if you have an age group preference
- Reliable, collaborative, and patient, with strong communication skills
Role Responsibilities:
- Assist licensed special education teachers in implementing individualized education programs (IEPs) and behavior plans
- Provide direct support to students, including academic assistance, behavioral management, and personal care
- Foster a safe, encouraging classroom environment for learners with complex needs
- Communicate effectively with staff and contribute to a cohesive team approach
You’ll support student progress while gaining skills valued in special education—all within a welcoming and collaborative environment. The contract involves 32.5 hours per week, Monday to Friday, at a consistent location throughout the academic year. The pay for this role is $20 per hour.
