Special Education Para Professional in Bayonne, NJ

Exciting opportunities await for compassionate and dedicated individuals interested in supporting student success as full-time paraprofessionals. Three contract positions are available in a dynamic school setting near Bayonne, NJ. Beginning as soon as possible and extending through June 22, 2027, with optional summer program extension, you’ll play a crucial role in guiding students through their daily academic and social experiences.

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist your assigned student throughout the school day, including arrival, meals, classroom activities, special subjects, outdoor play, and transitions.
• Provide hands-on instructional support following the teacher’s guidance: offer prompts, organize tasks, redirect attention, and foster students’ growing independence.
• Implement and monitor individualized educational programs (IEPs), behavior and safety plans, and support systems tailored to each student’s needs.
• Apply specialized strategies for emotional regulation, including Ukeru, CBI, and de-escalation techniques.
• Observe and monitor safety, behavior, peer relationships, and awareness of possible triggers to ensure a supportive environment.
• Seek additional help from clinicians, administrators, or crisis teams when a student’s needs surpass routine one-on-one support.
• Collect academic and behavioral data, communicating important observations to teaching and clinical staff.
• Maintain professional boundaries and strict confidentiality at all times.
• Remain with assigned students during planning periods, ensuring continuity of care unless properly relieved.

Preferred Qualifications & Experience:

• Previous experience as a paraprofessional or in direct student support roles.
• Understanding of IEPs, behavioral plans, and accommodations in a school environment.
• Familiarity with emotional regulation strategies and crisis intervention preferred.
• Strong communication, organization, and collaborative skills.
• Commitment to student safety and empowerment.
