Make a meaningful difference supporting students in an inclusive elementary school environment as a dedicated paraprofessional. This contract opportunity runs from late October through the end of March, providing maternity leave coverage in a specialized autism support classroom. You’ll work closely with students on the autism spectrum, helping foster growth, communication, and independence while collaborating with a passionate team of educators.
Key Qualifications:
- Active Delaware Paraeducator Permit is required (must be in hand; pending status not accepted unless accompanied by DEEDS portal screenshot)
- Experience working with children or students with autism or developmental needs preferred
- Willingness and ability to obtain required $85 CBC fingerprinting prior to placement
- Strong communication skills, patience, and a supportive attitude
- Ability to adapt to diverse student needs in a classroom setting
- Comfortable following established classroom plans while remaining flexible to meet student challenges
- If RBT certified, you are responsible for your own supervision outside of school hours to maintain certification
Role Highlights:
- Provide classroom support Monday through Friday, 35 hours per week, with a 30-minute unpaid lunch
- Directly assist students in a BRIDGES autism support setting, implementing behavior supports and individualized strategies under teacher guidance
- Partner with school staff to create an engaging, safe, and nurturing learning environment
- Track student progress and communicate needs or updates to teaching staff
- Engage in daily routines, activities, and personal development with sensitivity to each child’s abilities
