Teacher's Aide - Berkeley, California

As a key member of the program, you’ll create a supportive environment for learners during engaging afternoon sessions. This contract opportunity offers a schedule of either 1:30-6:30 pm or 2:30-6:30 pm, making it ideal for those seeking to foster both their teaching and classroom management skills in a fun, rewarding setting.

What You’ll Do:

• Deliver curriculum to students and foster a positive, energetic classroom atmosphere
• Communicate effectively with students, families, and staff to support student success
• Collaborate with team members to continuously improve and adapt curriculum
• Utilize organizational and basic math skills for attendance tracking and supply management
• Lead diverse recreational activities to encourage teamwork, collaboration, and physical movement

Who We’re Looking For:

• At least 18 years of age, with a High School Diploma or GED
• Minimum of one year of experience working in childcare or group settings with students
• Proven ability to manage groups and communicate professionally
• Willingness to complete the Instructional Assistant Exam (exceptions made for those with qualifying degrees or coursework)
• Three positive work/character references
• Clear Livescan fingerprinting and TB test required
• Physically able to lift up to 50 pounds for transporting classroom materials

Highly Valued Experience:

• Educational background in science or engineering
• Laboratory or basic science skills
• Creative talents such as performing skits, creating costumes, or storytelling
• Progress toward, or possession of, teaching credentials is an outstanding plus
