Special Education Para Professional in Berwyn, IL

This full-time, contract opportunity runs ASAP through the end of the academic year and offers meaningful daily work assisting elementary students. You'll join a dedicated team near Berwyn, IL, providing essential support for special needs populations in a vibrant school environment.

Ideal candidates have prior experience working with children with unique learning challenges and a genuine passion for helping every student succeed.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Previous paraprofessional experience in a school setting strongly preferred
• Demonstrated experience supporting students with special needs (elementary caseload experience is a plus)
• Ability to collaborate effectively with teachers and other support staff
• Strong communication and organizational skills
• Reliable, compassionate, and adaptable when addressing a variety of classroom situations
• Commitment to maintaining student confidentiality and a safe learning environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Assist classroom teachers in implementing instructional activities and accommodations for elementary students
• Offer 1:1 and small group support for learners with special needs (academic, behavioral, and/or physical assistance as needed)
• Foster positive, inclusive classroom interactions that encourage student participation
• Help with classroom management and supervision to ensure a structured learning atmosphere
• Support daily routines, transitions, and individualized education plans (IEPs) under teacher direction
• Track and document student progress and collaborate in team meetings
