Classroom Assistant | Bethel, Connecticut

This role involves both 1:1 support for students and collaboration within classroom settings. You'll work side by side with experienced lead teachers and supervisors, helping create an inclusive and positive learning environment for students with special needs.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized and small group support to students as directed by the lead teacher or outlined in students’ IEP or PPT documents.
• Assist with the supervision and successful integration of special education students within the classroom.
• Support students during academic lessons, on the playground, and during other school activities.
• Work as a collaborative member of the educational team, following directives from teachers and supervisors.
• Provide hands-on assistance, which may include helping students with personal care and toileting needs as required.

Desired Qualifications:

• Previous experience as a paraprofessional or directly related education support role.
• Parapro Certificate OR at least an associate’s degree (or a minimum of 60 completed college credits).
• Ability to demonstrate patience, empathy, and flexibility when supporting students.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills with both adults and children.
• Professionalism, dependability, and a commitment to fostering a positive learning environment.
