This is a rewarding, contract-based opportunity for experienced paraprofessionals passionate about making a difference in special education settings. Multiple placements are available, with assignments determined by district needs and candidate preferences whenever possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support students requiring Multiple Disabilities Support or Emotional Support in elementary, middle, or high school settings
- Assist with classroom management, tailored instruction, behavior support, and personal care tasks (including lifting, toileting, and managing behavioral challenges)
- Collaborate closely with teachers and other staff to implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
- Foster a positive, inclusive classroom environment and promote independence among students
- Maintain consistent, punctual attendance and quick responsiveness during the school day
Desired Qualifications:
- At least one year of experience working in a school or special education setting as a paraprofessional
- Reside within a 35-minute commute to the specified school sites
- Availability to work a typical school day schedule, with flexibility at the start and end of the academic year
- Meet at least one Pennsylvania paraprofessional qualification (48 college credits, Associate’s degree or higher, or passing a qualifying state or local assessment)—or willing to obtain state certification within 60 days of hire (support will be provided)
- Ability to handle physically and emotionally demanding tasks, including supporting students exhibiting challenging behaviors
