These positions are ideal for professionals committed to fostering growth in learners with diverse needs—from multiple disabilities support to enhanced autistic support and emotional support classrooms.
What You Bring:
- Minimum of one year’s experience working as a paraprofessional in a school or special education setting
- Must live within a 35-minute commute from assigned locations
- Available for a school-day schedule, with start times as early as 7:00 AM and end times up to 3:30 PM, depending on assignment
- Ability to meet at least one Pennsylvania paraprofessional qualification requirement:
- Two years of post-secondary education (48 credits), or
- Associate degree or higher, or
- Completion of a rigorous state/local paraprofessional assessment
- Willingness to complete para certification within 60 days if not already held
- Excellent references from previous paraprofessional supervisors
- Understanding and acceptance of responsibilities including behavior management, potential lifting/toileting, and proactive engagement
What You’ll Do:
- Provide direct classroom assistance and support for students with special needs
- Assist teachers in implementing educational and behavioral strategies
- Respond quickly and calmly to challenging behavior (e.g., elopement, physical outbursts)
- Foster a positive and inclusive classroom environment
- Adapt to evolving assignments and needs within the schools
- Maintain professionalism and uphold all school and state standards for paraprofessionals
