Positions are available immediately with assignments spanning functional and behavioral Multiple Disabilities Support (MDS) classrooms. Work closely with educators to foster a positive and inclusive environment, playing a crucial role in student development.
Key Qualifications & Experience
- At least 1 year of experience as a paraprofessional, instructional assistant, or in a school/special education setting
- Meets one of the Pennsylvania paraprofessional state qualification requirements:
- Completed 48+ college credits
- Holds an associate degree or higher
- Has state-mandated assessment/certified credential (CDA or Credential of Competency)
- Willingness to obtain para certification within 60 days if not already certified
- Demonstrated ability to support students with intellectual and behavioral needs, including personal care (feeding, toileting, lifting)
- Reliable transportation with a commute of 30–35 minutes to assigned schools
- Available for a school-day schedule (typically 7:00 AM–3:30 PM), up to 35 hours per week for school-age assignments; up to 29 hours for preschool
- Comfort with responsibilities in classrooms where behaviors such as hitting, spitting, biting, or elopement can occur
- Two strong supervisory references specific to paraprofessional experience
Responsibilities
- Support classroom teachers and specialized staff in delivering educational and functional programming
- Provide direct assistance to students with daily living tasks and academic work
- Maintain a safe, respectful classroom climate
- Adapt to changing assignments and duties based on evolving school needs
- Document student progress and communicate observations to educators
