Help shape the academic and social-emotional journey of a motivated 2nd-grade student by providing dedicated 1:1 tutoring support at the start of the upcoming school year. As a paraprofessional, this role offers the rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful impact in a flexible, supportive environment.
You’ll be working one-on-one with a bright young student who benefits from individualized attention, structure, and clear limits to thrive. Sessions will take place at the Gilpin County Public Library, with a flexible schedule totaling about 10 hours per week. The position is set to begin on August 10, and transportation for the student will be provided by the family.
Desired Qualifications:
- Previous experience as a paraprofessional, tutor, or in a similar education support capacity
- Strong understanding of positive behavioral strategies and social-emotional learning
- Ability to set clear boundaries and deliver structure while fostering growth and curiosity
- Comfortable working one-on-one and adapting methods to suit student needs
- Patience, empathy, and an encouraging communication style
- Commitment to confidentiality and professionalism
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide individualized academic tutoring and guidance in alignment with student needs and learning goals
- Support the student’s social-emotional development through positive reinforcement and consistent structure
- Implement creative strategies to motivate, engage, and stretch the student's abilities
- Communicate regularly with the family and educational teams, as appropriate, to ensure student progress
- Track student successes and challenges, making recommendations for adaptations as needed
