Step into a pivotal support role helping visually impaired students thrive by partnering closely with a Teacher of the Visually Impaired (TVI) in a dynamic school environment near Bloomington, IL. This part-time, contract paraprofessional opportunity (approximately 20 hours per week) is uniquely focused—your sole responsibility is to provide direct assistance to the TVI and ensure VI students receive consistent, personalized support. As an itinerant role, you’ll travel as needed to facilitate learning, coordinate resources, and reinforce educational goals for students with visual impairments.

Desired Skills and Experience:

  • Previous experience as a paraprofessional, preferably in a school setting
  • Strong commitment to supporting students with visual impairment
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach
  • Flexibility to work part-time hours and travel between locations as required

  • Ability to follow instruction from the TVI and implement accommodations consistently

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate daily learning activities and assist with instructional materials for students with visual impairments under the direction of the TVI
  • Support the remote TVI during lessons
  • Adapt classroom materials and assistive technologies as directed
  • Provide feedback on student progress and challenges to the TVI
  • Maintain student confidentiality and professionalism at all times
  • Will not be reassigned to unrelated duties—focus is solely on supporting the TVI and VI students
