Teacher's Aide - Blue Springs, Missouri

Make a meaningful impact by supporting students from kindergarten through high school as an instructional assistant in special education settings. This contract position offers the chance to work 35 hours per week across a variety of engaging learning environments, primarily with elementary-aged children. You'll play a crucial role assisting in classrooms dedicated to students with special needs, providing essential support to enhance their educational experience and overall development.

Desired Qualifications:

• Relevant experience working with children with disabilities
• Valid Missouri sub certificate, ParaPro/Paraprofessional Assessment, or completion of the 20-hour Substitute Certificate Course
• Physical ability to assist with student mobility, behavioral de-escalation, and occasional physical management
• Background or comfort with toileting, lifting, feeding, and mobility tasks in small group or 1:1 settings
• Bonus: Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification
• Experience with social/emotional learning programs and behaviors such as aggression or elopement is highly valued
• Some medical background for positions that involve health support in the classroom

Key Responsibilities:

• Support social/emotional learning in self-contained elementary settings
• Foster skills development in special education classrooms for grades K-8, including personal care and mobility support
• Assist high school students with functional and foundational academic skills, work skills training, and general classroom support
• Collaborate with teaching staff to ensure a safe, engaging, and inclusive learning environment for all students
• Use de-escalation techniques and behavioral management strategies as needed
