Make a meaningful impact this upcoming school year by supporting students as a paraprofessional and 1:1 tutor. This flexible opportunity near Boulder, CO, offers you the chance to work closely with students who benefit from individualized attention—especially a bright young 2nd grader with social-emotional needs in Black Hawk. You’ll provide structure and encouragement, helping them thrive academically and personally.

Your role involves tutoring for about 10 hours per week at the Gilpin County Public Library, working one-on-one in a supportive and consistent setting. You’ll also collaborate with school staff in a paraprofessional capacity, assisting in classrooms as needed. Flexible scheduling makes it possible to balance this important work with your other commitments. The anticipated start date is August 10.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Previous experience as a paraprofessional and/or one-on-one tutoring with elementary-aged children
  • Strong understanding of strategies to support students with social-emotional needs
  • Ability to set clear boundaries while maintaining a warm, encouraging presence
  • Patience, flexibility, and excellent communication skills
  • Willingness to work collaboratively with families and school professionals

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide focused, individualized tutoring to a 2nd-grade student at the library
  • Help implement strategies that support academic growth and emotional regulation
  • Set consistent routines and limits to facilitate work completion
  • Serve as a classroom paraprofessional as needed, assisting teachers and supporting students
  • Foster a positive, productive environment for learning
