Classroom Assistant | Bridgeport, Connecticut

Key Qualifications:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous experience as a paraprofessional in schools is essential
• Background working directly with children, preferably those with special education needs
• Familiarity with special education protocols, including IEPs and data collection
• Demonstrated ability to adapt instruction and utilize assistive technologies for varied learners
• Strong collaboration skills for working alongside teachers, students, and families
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to maintaining a positive classroom atmosphere
• Comfort supporting students with challenging behaviors and physical disabilities
• Exceptional organization, time management, and problem-solving capabilities
• Patient, empathetic, and passionate about helping students thrive

Primary Responsibilities:

• Assist teachers in delivering academic and behavioral interventions
• Help develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs)
• Collect and document student progress and assist in assessment processes
• Modify teaching materials to accommodate individual differences
• Foster a supportive and inclusive learning climate
• Communicate effectively with teachers, support staff, and parents
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold all school policies
