Grades 6 - 8 Grades 9 - 12 Teacher's Aide - Bridgeport, Connecticut

Make a meaningful impact in an educational setting as a Student Care Worker, supporting students across elementary and intermediate grade levels. In this contract role, you'll collaborate closely with lead teachers and supervisors, providing both 1:1 assistance and classroom support to students requiring behavioral and special education services. Your work will be integral to fostering a positive, productive learning environment for students from kindergarten through high school.

What We’re Looking For:

• Prior experience working in schools in behavioral or special education roles, or directly related experience
• Background supporting students in grades K–12, with the flexibility to work with different age groups and needs
• Ability to assist teachers in supervising and instructing special education students as defined in PPT and IEP documentation
• Commitment to supporting student learning and educational goals in both individual and group settings
• High school diploma required
• Must meet NCLB requirements: either an associate's degree (or higher) or sufficient college credits, or having passed the Parapro Assessment Examination

Role Responsibilities:

• Work individually and in small groups within classroom environments to implement instructional and behavioral plans
• Support the developmental, social, and academic needs of students by providing consistent guidance and encouragement
• Collaborate with teachers and school staff to monitor progress and adjust strategies as needed
• Assist in creating an inclusive, respectful, and supportive classroom culture
• Maintain documentation and communicate effectively regarding student progress and needs
