Desired qualifications and experience:

  • Previous experience as a paraprofessional or in a similar educational support role
  • Ability to build rapport with students, staff, and families
  • Comfortable assisting students with academic, behavioral, or physical needs
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills
  • High school diploma or equivalent; further education or certifications in education or special education are a plus
  • Patience, adaptability, and a passion for helping students achieve their goals

Responsibilities include:

  • Providing one-on-one or small group support to students as directed by teacher staff
  • Assisting teachers in classroom management and preparation of materials
  • Supporting students with special needs according to their individualized plans
  • Encouraging a safe, inclusive, and positive classroom environment
  • Supervising students during various activities, including transitions, lunch, or recess
  • Collaborating with educators and specialists to best serve each student’s needs
  • Maintaining confidentiality and upholding school policies and procedures
