Key Qualifications:
- At least two years of college credits from an accredited institution, an associate degree or higher, or a passing score on an approved academic assessment (ParaPro, ParaPathways, The Master Teacher), OR meet the competencies in the MDE approved grid.
- PCA certificate (or the willingness to earn one—free, takes under an hour).
- Minimum of one year’s professional experience working with school-aged children.
- Ideally, two or more years of experience as a school-based paraprofessional.
- Strong communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to adapt quickly to diverse classroom settings and needs.
- Commitment to supporting the success and well-being of students.
Role Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to classroom teachers and students as a substitute paraprofessional or education assistant.
- Assist with classroom activities, behavior management, and individualized learning.
- Help implement educational plans for special education and general education students.
- Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
- Step in as needed to cover absent paraprofessional staff throughout the school year.
