Step into a rewarding contract role supporting students as a substitute paraprofessional in a vibrant school environment for the 2026-2027 academic year. This position offers flexibility with per diem scheduling and the opportunity to positively impact students’ educational experiences by stepping in during staff absences.

Key Qualifications:

  • At least two years of college credits from an accredited institution, an associate degree or higher, or a passing score on an approved academic assessment (ParaPro, ParaPathways, The Master Teacher), OR meet the competencies in the MDE approved grid.
  • PCA certificate (or the willingness to earn one—free, takes under an hour).
  • Minimum of one year’s professional experience working with school-aged children.
  • Ideally, two or more years of experience as a school-based paraprofessional.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to adapt quickly to diverse classroom settings and needs.
  • Commitment to supporting the success and well-being of students.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct support to classroom teachers and students as a substitute paraprofessional or education assistant.
  • Assist with classroom activities, behavior management, and individualized learning.
  • Help implement educational plans for special education and general education students.
  • Foster an inclusive and supportive classroom environment.
  • Step in as needed to cover absent paraprofessional staff throughout the school year.
