Qualifications & Desired Experience:
- Proven experience as a Paraprofessional in educational settings
- Certification or formal training as a Sign Language Interpreter (ASL proficiency required)
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and nonverbal
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, students, and other staff members
- Patience, adaptability, and a genuine commitment to student development
- High school diploma or equivalent required; additional relevant training or certification a plus
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students in classroom activities and learning objectives under teacher supervision
- Provide sign language interpretation to support communication for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
- Contribute to a positive, supportive classroom culture
- Work directly with individual students or small groups, adapting materials as needed for accessibility
- Implement educational plans and behavior support strategies as directed by teaching staff
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold all school policies and procedures
