Step into a meaningful role supporting students with hearing loss as an ASL Paraprofessional in a dynamic school environment near Cibolo, TX. This contract position begins as soon as possible and runs through late May 2027, offering the opportunity to make a daily impact on student success.
You’ll primarily work on-site, collaborating with educators to provide direct support to students who use American Sign Language. With an assignment likely based at Mission Academy, your caseload will span a diverse group of students ranging from 10 at Highlands High School to 30 at Mission Academy, facilitating communication and educational growth from day to day.
Desired Qualifications:
- Associate’s degree (or higher), or
- At least 48 college semester hours (recognized by Texas or regional education agencies) and paraeducator certification (Stedi.org, passing score of 70%+), or
- Hands-on experience with pediatric or school-aged children who have hearing loss
- Preferred: Bachelor’s degree
- Strong ASL proficiency
- Fingerprinting and background check (time-sensitive compliance)
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide academic and communication support to students using ASL within classroom and school settings
- Collaborate closely with teaching staff to adapt instructional materials and classroom activities
- Support students’ engagement and participation in both academic and social aspects of school life
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to safety, ethical, and regulatory guidelines
- Assist with translations, classroom management, and daily routines as directed by educators
