Classroom Aide | Converse, Texas

Make a meaningful difference supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing in a welcoming school environment near Converse, Texas. Work as an on-site paraprofessional specializing in ASL to help empower students from elementary through high school. This contract role will have you contributing directly to the academic and social success of students, working closely with educators and support staff. The assignment will likely be based at one school, with the potential to serve both Highlands High School and Mission Academy as needs arise.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Associate’s degree or higher required, OR at least 48 college semester hours recognized by the TX Education Agency (or regional equivalent) plus successful completion of a paraeducator course via Stedi.org (minimum score 70%)
• OR demonstrated pediatric or school-based experience with children who have hearing loss
• Bachelor’s degree preferred
• Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) essential
• Previous exposure to educational settings supporting children with diverse needs is an advantage
• Required: ability to pass fingerprinting and background checks per state and school requirements

Responsibilities:

• Provide classroom and one-on-one support for students using ASL for communication
• Collaborate with teachers to implement IEPs and appropriate accommodations
• Assist in maintaining a safe, inclusive, and positive learning environment
• Help facilitate communication between students, staff, and families as needed
• Support student participation in classroom and school activities
• Some travel between nearby school sites may be required based on student needs
