Special Education Para Professional in Corning, NY

Seeking passionate and dedicated individuals to support students in various educational settings in the Corning, NY area. As a paraprofessional, you’ll play a pivotal role assisting students with special needs, including those with medical complexities or autism spectrum disorder, and contribute to their academic and daily living success in a collaborative, supportive environment.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Previous experience as a paraprofessional, teacher’s aide, or CNA preferred
• Comfort in assisting students with significant medical needs, mobility challenges, and wheelchairs
• Ability to support students in 1:1 settings, including nonverbal individuals or those in ASD/multi-disabled classrooms
• NY State Teacher’s Assistant Certification required for Assistant roles
• Experience in preschool, school, or behavioral settings required for Aide roles
• Compassion, patience, and adaptability to varied student needs
• Willingness to complete Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training (provided in October)

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide individualized academic and personal care support to assigned students, including daily living tasks
• Assist teachers and service providers in implementing educational and behavioral plans
• Foster a safe and supportive classroom environment for learners with medical and/or developmental needs
• Communicate consistently with educators, therapists, and families regarding student progress
• Engage actively with training and professional development opportunities
• Maintain confidentiality and uphold all school and district policies
