Make a meaningful difference each day working as a Paraprofessional/Teacher’s Aide supporting elementary students near Danbury, CT. This contract role is for the 2023-2024 school year and offers a full-time schedule at 32 hours per week, all on-site.
As an essential member of the classroom, you’ll help foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment for special education students. Collaborate with teachers and families, assist in implementing individualized education plans (IEPs), and support students who have a range of learning needs—including those with physical disabilities or challenging behaviors. Your adaptability and passion will create a positive impact in the lives of children.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day classroom assistance tailored to individualized student needs
- Support teachers in developing and executing IEPs
- Employ effective instructional strategies and adapt materials for diverse learners
- Participate in data collection and progress monitoring
- Use specialized teaching techniques and assistive technology as appropriate
- Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and parents to support student growth
- Foster independence, empathy, and success among all students
Preferred Skills & Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Prior experience as a paraprofessional in school settings
- Familiarity with special education laws, procedures, and best practices
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Comfortable working with students with physical disabilities or challenging behaviors
- Reliable, punctual, and possesses a strong work ethic
- Able to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a dynamic classroom
