Instructional Assistant - Danbury, CT

Step into a dynamic contract role supporting students as a Paraprofessional/Teacher’s Aide in an elementary school near Danbury, CT. This full-time, onsite position offers an opportunity to help special education students thrive during the 2023-2024 school year. You’ll work closely with educators, families, and students, providing meaningful support to drive student achievement and personal growth.

Qualifications & Skills:

• High school diploma or equivalent required
• Previous experience as a school paraprofessional/teacher’s aide
• Background in supporting special education or working with children
• Familiarity with special education laws, regulations, and best practices
• Knowledge of developing and implementing IEPs
• Proficient in data collection, progress assessment, and adapting instructional strategies
• Understanding of specialized teaching techniques, assistive technologies, and resources for diverse learners
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills—collaborate effectively with teachers, students, and parents
• Comfortable working with students with challenging behaviors and physical disabilities
• Reliable and organized with excellent time management and a strong work ethic
• Passion for helping students with different learning abilities succeed

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide classroom support, individual and small group instruction, and assist with lesson adaptation
• Implement and document progress on IEP goals
• Utilize data collection methods to track and report student growth
• Foster a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment
• Collaborate with teachers and support staff to address student needs and adapt materials as required
• Participate in school meetings, training, and professional development
