Instructional Assistant - Des Plaines, IL

Step into a rewarding, full-time opportunity supporting elementary students as a paraprofessional for the 2026-2027 school year. This role focuses on making a daily difference in a vibrant North Chicago (Winnetka area) elementary school, providing key assistance to teachers and helping young learners succeed. With a consistent Monday through Friday schedule, you’ll be working 35 hours per week, allowing for lunch and breaks to recharge and bring your best energy into the classroom.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Valid Illinois Paraprofessional (Para) certification is required
• At least two years of experience working in a classroom setting, ideally with elementary students
• Prior experience responding to and supporting challenging behaviors is highly preferred
• Comfortable assisting with toileting and supporting students with a range of needs
• Able to provide at least two professional references (please include name, contact information, and email address)
• Adaptable, compassionate, and ready to thrive in a busy school environment

Key Responsibilities:

• Collaborate closely with classroom teachers to manage the learning environment
• Deliver individualized and small-group support—sometimes working 1:1 with students
• Offer assistance during classroom activities, helping students stay engaged and successful
• Provide essential care, including assisting with toileting, to ensure all students’ needs are met
