Special Education Para Professional in Des Plaines, IL

Step into a rewarding opportunity supporting students from kindergarten through twelfth grade as a paraprofessional for the upcoming school year. This contract-to-hire role offers the chance to work in both 1:1 settings and classroom assistant positions, with potential for a permanent role based on your performance. Multiple positions are available, each fostering the academic and social success of students in a dynamic school environment just outside of Des Plaines, IL.

In this role, you will:

• Provide direct support to students and teachers in general and special education classrooms
• Assist with individualized instruction and adapt materials to meet diverse learners’ needs
• Implement strategies outlined in students' IEPs under teacher supervision
• Foster positive and inclusive classroom environments
• Encourage student engagement and support social-emotional development
• Supervise students in classroom and non-classroom settings (lunch, recess, transitions)
• Communicate regularly with teachers and school staff about student progress and needs

Ideal candidates bring:

• Prior experience as a paraprofessional or classroom assistant, especially with K-12 populations
• High school diploma or equivalent; additional coursework or certification is valued
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Patience, adaptability, and a student-centered mindset
• Ability to take direction and work effectively as part of a supportive team
