Instructional Assistant - Edison, New Jersey

Make a lasting difference in students’ lives by providing essential support as a dedicated paraprofessional in a vibrant educational setting near Edison, NJ. This full-time contract position offers you the opportunity to work closely with students and teachers in a dynamic, collaborative environment. With three positions available, you’ll have the chance to start as soon as possible and work through June 2027, with options to extend into the ESY summer program.

Key Qualifications:

• Experience or strong interest in working as a paraprofessional in a school setting
• Ability to provide individualized support and encouragement to students
• Familiarity with implementing IEPs, behavior plans, and safety protocols
• Comfort using academic data collection and reporting tools
• Strong communication skills and commitment to maintaining confidentiality
• Capacity to remain calm and resourceful in challenging situations

Role Responsibilities:

• Accompany the assigned student throughout the school day, including during arrival, breakfast, academics, ESS groups, lunch, recess, special activities, transitions, and field trips
• Deliver instructional support under the direction of classroom teachers, including prompting, organization, and reinforcing independent skills
• Implement the student’s IEP, behavior plans, and safety procedures as outlined by the educational team
• Apply emotional regulation techniques such as Ukeru, CBI, and de-escalation practices when needed
• Monitor student safety, social interactions, and identify potential triggers or behavioral concerns
• Seek support from mental health, clinical, or administrative staff when additional intervention is required
• Record academic and behavioral observations, sharing relevant details with teachers and clinicians
• Uphold confidentiality and professional boundaries at all times
• Provide supervision during teacher planning periods unless formally relieved
