Individuals holding a valid Illinois paraprofessional certificate are encouraged to apply.

Ideal candidates possess strong skills as a school paraprofessional, demonstrating patience, adaptability, and commitment to student development. Preference will be given to applicants with experience handling behavioral challenges and/or American Sign Language (ASL) proficiency.

Qualifications & Desired Experience:

  • Illinois Paraprofessional Certification required
  • Prior experience as a school paraprofessional highly valued
  • Background in supporting students with behavioral needs is a significant advantage
  • Familiarity or fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and exhibit professionalism in all interactions

Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Provide classroom support under the direction of certified teaching staff
  • Assist students with academic work, social interaction, and participation in daily activities
  • Support students with behavioral challenges, utilizing approved intervention strategies
  • Foster a positive, inclusive learning environment that encourages student growth
  • Communicate effectively with teachers and support staff to track student progress and needs
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of all students during school activities
