Instructional Assistant - Elgin, IL

What we’re looking for:

• Previous experience as a paraprofessional or classroom aide preferred.
• Ability to build rapport with students of varying backgrounds and abilities.
• Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
• Patience, adaptability, and a positive attitude towards daily challenges.
• Familiarity with implementing teacher-directed lesson plans and behavior management strategies.
• High school diploma or equivalent required; additional coursework or certification in education or special needs support is a plus.
• Willingness to work collaboratively as part of a diverse education team.

Key responsibilities:

• Assist classroom teachers with daily lesson plans and classroom management.
• Support students individually or in small groups to promote understanding and skill development.
• Help maintain an organized, safe, and welcoming environment for students.
• Contribute to student documentation, as directed, and communicate effectively with staff and families.
• Adapt resources and materials as needed to support student success.
• Supervise students during activities, transitions, and, as required, lunch or recess periods.
