Serving one-on-one as a Visually Impaired Support Assistant, you’ll be a key advocate in helping learners overcome barriers and maximize their educational experience throughout the school year. This full-time, contract-based opportunity runs from August 13, 2026, to August 21, 2027, with a consistent Monday through Friday schedule at 37.5 hours per week.
Desired Qualifications:
- Associate degree or completion of 48 semester hours (official transcript required)
- Verifiable experience as a paraprofessional, preferably within educational settings
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to foster positive student relationships
- Compassionate, patient, and committed to providing personalized support
- Ability to collaborate with educators and follow care plans and accommodations
Primary Responsibilities:
- Deliver dedicated one-to-one support for a visually impaired student throughout the school day
- Assist during academic and non-academic activities, providing accessible materials and adaptive strategies
- Ensure student safety and engagement both in the classroom and during transitions
- Communicate effectively with teachers, specialists, and families to support learning objectives
- Track progress and provide feedback to the instructional team as needed
- Employ respectful, student-centered approaches that promote independence and confidence
