Several contract opportunities are now open for those passionate about educational assistance, with full-time schedules (37.5 hours per week) and placements across elementary, middle, and high schools. Assignments range from working one-on-one with students in self-contained and resource settings (serving those with cognitive or emotional impairments) to supporting students in general education environments. Key responsibilities also include providing day-to-day care—for example, assisting with toileting and personal needs for students with cognitive impairments—helping ensure each learner receives the support they require.

Qualifications include:

  • At least 60 semester hours of college credit, or an associate degree (or higher),
  • OR a passing score on the ETS Parapro Assessment (minimum 460),
  • OR SAT scores of at least 480 in evidence-based reading/writing and 530 in math.
  • A copy of your official university transcripts is required before being presented to the district.
  • Dedication to working with students of all ages and abilities.
  • Flexibility to be placed wherever need is greatest in Flint-area schools.

Day-to-day duties:

  • Provide instructional and non-instructional classroom support.
  • Assist students with personal and educational needs.
  • Support classroom teachers in maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
  • Foster an inclusive atmosphere for students with a wide range of abilities.
