Classroom Assistant | Forest Lake, Minnesota

Step into a rewarding contract opportunity supporting a young elementary student as a 1:1 paraprofessional utilizing American Sign Language skills for the 2026-2027 school year. This full-time position runs from early September through early June, and is based in Forest Lake, MN. You will play a vital role in helping a child, recently transitioned from Kindergarten, access his education through signed communication as part of his individualized education plan.

Ideal fit:

• Experience as a paraprofessional in school settings, especially supporting elementary-age students
• Strong proficiency in American Sign Language (candidates with basic knowledge must show motivation to continue learning)
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively with the student’s IEP team
• Eagerness to create a nurturing, inclusive, and communicative environment
• Comfortable commuting to Forest View ES within the large Forest Lake area
• Prepared to consistently work a 35-hour week throughout the school year

Role responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support for an elementary student, focusing on ASL communication throughout the school day
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and the IEP team to deliver modifications and accommodations
• Foster a positive, engaged learning experience in the mainstream classroom and special education settings
• Record observations and share student progress related to communication goals
