Support the academic and daily success of a visually impaired student as a dedicated Paraprofessional in a full-time, contract role for the 2026-2027 school year. This contract position runs from August 13, 2026, through August 21, 2027, with consistent weekday hours (Monday through Friday, 37.5 hours per week) that support a positive work-life balance. As a Visually Impaired Support Assistant, you’ll be essential in promoting the student’s independence and academic growth within a collaborative school environment.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Associate degree OR a minimum of 48 semester hours of college credits (degree or transcript required with your application)
- Experience as a paraprofessional or support staff in a school setting, particularly with visually impaired students, is highly preferred
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
- Ability to follow individualized education plans (IEPs) and specialized instructions from teachers and specialists
- Patient, empathetic, and encouraging approach to student support
Core Responsibilities:
- Provide direct support to the assigned visually impaired student throughout the school day
- Assist with academic activities, adaptive technology, mobility, and classroom participation
- Work collaboratively with teachers, related services, and the school's special education team
- Help foster an inclusive, accessible learning environment
