Instructional Aide - Gray, LA

This contract opportunity seeks two dedicated professionals to provide American Sign Language (ASL) support for middle school students within general education classrooms. Working Monday through Friday, from approximately 7:30 AM to 2:30 PM, you’ll play an integral part in ensuring access to learning and communication for students in a welcoming school environment.

What you’ll bring:

• Experience as a paraprofessional or sign language interpreter, ideally in a school or youth setting
• Proficiency in American Sign Language, with a certification or documented credential to demonstrate skill
• A high school diploma or equivalent

Key responsibilities:

• Providing real-time ASL interpretation during classroom instruction and school activities
• Assisting students in accessing curriculum, classroom discussions, and peer interactions
• Collaborating closely with classroom teachers to ensure support aligns with learning goals
• Fostering a positive, accessible, and inclusive environment for students who are deaf or hard of hearing
• Monitoring student progress and adapting your approach as needed for optimal engagement
• Serving as a resource and advocate for accessibility within the classroom community
