This rewarding, full-time contract opportunity for the upcoming school year calls for fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) to assist students who are Deaf or Hard of Hearing. Your expertise will help foster an inclusive learning environment, bridging communication between students and educators while supporting academic and social development.

Key Qualifications:

  • Proficient in American Sign Language (ASL) with demonstrated fluency.
  • Previous experience as a paraprofessional, instructional aide, or similar role in an educational setting is highly valued.
  • Ability to collaborate closely with classroom teachers, special education staff, and other professionals.
  • Strong adaptability and patience working with students with diverse learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to support both students and staff.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and following school protocols and policies.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Support students who use ASL for communication, ensuring equitable access to instruction and classroom activities.
  • Interpret and facilitate communication between students, teachers, and peers in both academic and social settings.
  • Provide one-on-one and group assistance during lessons, activities, and transitions throughout the school day.
  • Assist with implementing Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) as directed by special education staff.
  • Encourage and motivate students’ participation, fostering their academic and social growth.
  • Help manage classroom organization and maintain a positive, supportive atmosphere.
