Make an impact every day by supporting elementary students who need a steady, trauma-informed presence. This contract opportunity is perfect for a skilled paraprofessional who excels in behavior support and is eager to work 1:1 with a student diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD). In this role, you’ll help create a safe, structured environment and follow consistent routines, all while collaborating closely with educators and support staff.
What We’re Looking For:
- Minimum one year of experience as a paraprofessional, specifically with behavior support and trauma-informed strategies—please clearly outline this in your resume.
- Background in special education, behavioral support, psychology, social work, or trauma-informed care.
- Demonstrated skills in de-escalation, emotional regulation, and establishing professional boundaries.
- Capacity to consistently follow a Behavior Intervention Plan and collect required data.
- Ability to build trust, maintain routines, and avoid power struggles while fostering student independence.
- Must meet Pennsylvania paraprofessional requirements. If you lack current para certification, 48+ college credits, or an associate’s degree, you must earn para certification within 60 days of hire.
Your Role Will Include:
- Providing consistent 1:1 academic and behavioral support throughout the school day, Monday–Friday (approx. 7:30 AM–3:30 PM, up to 37.5 hours/week).
- Riding the bus with the student as needed and supporting safe transitions.
- Coordinating and communicating with teachers and special education staff to ensure successful plan implementation and documentation.
- Collecting data to track interventions and outcomes.
