Special Education Para Professional in Hartford, CT

Take on a meaningful contract role supporting student growth as a paraprofessional in a dynamic educational setting near Hartford, CT. This position pairs you 1:1 with an 8th-grade student, providing vital guidance and encouragement throughout the school day. You’ll work Monday through Friday from 7:30 am to 2:40 pm (with a 30-minute unpaid lunch), making a direct impact while gaining valuable hands-on experience in the world of special education.

Key Qualifications:

• Proven experience (preferred) working with students exhibiting behavioral needs
• Familiarity with school settings and paraprofessional support roles
• Willingness to complete required state trainings
• Strong communication, patience, and organizational abilities
• Comfortable collaborating with teachers, staff, and families
• Flexible approach that adapts to daily needs and challenges

Primary Responsibilities:

• Provide dedicated 1:1 support to an 8th-grade student, fostering their academic and social-emotional growth
• Assist with classroom tasks, prompts, and following behavioral plans
• Encourage positive choices and help reinforce coping strategies
• Work closely with teachers and related services to maintain a supportive learning environment
• Document progress and communication as needed
• Ensure the student’s safety and participation during the school day

This is an onsite contract opportunity, starting as soon as possible and extending through June 11. Interviews are conducted on location when feasible, offering you the chance to connect with the school community firsthand.
