Instructional Assistant - Hartford, Connecticut

Seeking experienced and reliable professionals to provide essential support as a Para/Behavior Technician in a school setting near Hartford, CT. This contract, full-time position (32.5 hours per week) offers the chance to make a significant difference in the lives of students with autism spectrum disorders and varying behavioral challenges.

In this role, you’ll primarily work in 1:1 support positions, with classrooms of 5-7 students, each assigned their own paraprofessional to ensure individualized attention. The students benefit from dedicated assistance and you will play a vital role in their educational and behavioral progress. Duties may include direct classroom support and individualized interventions, as well as assisting with toileting and other needs when necessary. The work can be challenging, but it is highly rewarding for those passionate about supporting students with special needs.

Key qualifications for this position include:

• At least 1-2 years of prior experience in behavioral or special education (SPED) settings
• Familiarity with supporting students on the autism spectrum
• A strong sense of responsibility, reliability, and commitment
• Capability to handle intense behavioral situations with patience and professionalism
• Willingness to assist with personal care tasks if needed

Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 support to assigned student
• Support classroom environment and behavior management
• Implement individualized or group behavior intervention plans
• Collaborate with teachers and related service providers
• Maintain accurate records and communicate progress as needed
