Para Professional in Hartford, CT

Step into a rewarding contract assignment supporting students as a 1:1 paraprofessional. Located near Hartford, CT, this onsite opportunity serves the social, emotional, and behavioral needs of learners within a specialized educational setting. The assignment is set from October 1 to November 30, with the possibility for extension.

Qualifications and Skills

• Previous experience as a paraprofessional in school environments preferred
• Familiarity with supporting children who have social, emotional, or behavioral needs
• Ability to build rapport and foster trust with students on a 1:1 basis
• Effective communicator, both with students and educational teams
• Patient, reliable, and able to maintain professionalism in sensitive situations
• Compliance with background checks and required clearances

Key Responsibilities

• Work one-on-one with assigned student, implementing behavioral and emotional support strategies
• Assist with classroom activities, transitions, and routines
• Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other staff to support the student’s IEP goals
• Redirect and de-escalate challenging behaviors using positive interventions
• Document observations and progress in accordance with school protocols
• Uphold a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment

Schedule

• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday: 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM
• Wednesday: 9:00 AM – 1:00 PM
