Instructional Assistant - Hazleton, Pennsylvania

Embark on a rewarding contract assignment as a paraprofessional supporting the success of a student within a vibrant high school setting. This full-time role spans the school year, offering the chance to make a meaningful impact while developing your expertise in behavioral support.

Starting in August and extending through early June, you will work closely with one student enrolled in the Life Skills program. The student requires consistency, patience, and strong behavior guidance, especially given their needs related to autism and a tendency to elope when routines are disrupted. Your vigilance and compassionate approach will help maintain the student’s participation and safety in the classroom.

Key qualifications:

• Previous experience in a school environment is essential
• Demonstrated comfort supporting students with extensive behavioral needs
• Background in working 1:1 with students with autism is highly desirable
• Ability to remain calm and proactive in fast-paced or unexpected situations
• Excellent communication and teamwork skills
• Reliable, punctual, and committed to the entire school year

Your day will typically run from 7:15am to 3pm (schedule subject to change), Monday through Friday, in a high school setting. As the student’s primary support, you will:

• Reinforce and maintain classroom routines
• Monitor safety and intervene proactively as needed
• Collaborate with teachers, other staff, and family to create the most supportive environment
• Encourage social interaction while helping manage transitions and possible behavioral concerns
• Document progress and behaviors as required
