Support students during transportation as a Bus Aide in a K-12 school setting located in Huntington Beach, CA. This contract position runs from January 5, 2026, through May 29, 2026, with a strong possibility of renewal for the Extended School Year (ESY) and the 2026/2027 school year. The role requires 15 hours per week, split into two 90-minute shifts in the morning and afternoon, with schedules typically between 6:30-8:30 AM and 2:30-4:30 PM.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist students by providing 1:1 or 2:1 support on the bus to and from school.
- Accompany the bus driver to pick up students at home and ensure safe transportation back to school.
- Use verbal de-escalation techniques to support students as needed.
- Work effectively with special needs children, following individualized care routines.
- Acquire familiarity by riding the bus with assigned students prior to service commencement.
Desired Qualifications:
- Experience as a paraprofessional or Certified Nursing Assistant is preferred.
- Prior work with special needs children and knowledge of behavioral support strategies.
- Ability to communicate clearly and apply de-escalation skills when required.
- Patience and reliability for timely shift coverage and student care.
- Comfortable riding the bus and engaging with students one-on-one.
