This paraprofessional opportunity supports K-12 special education programs, primarily within elementary settings. The role involves working closely as an Instructional Assistant in classrooms serving students with disabilities, providing direct support both academically and behaviorally.

Hours: 35 hours per week
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist in special education classrooms supporting students with diverse learning needs.
- Support Southwood Elementary’s Social/Emotional Learning program (K-5), including behavior management, de-escalation techniques, and occasional physical assistance for mobility or safety.
- Support Northwood School’s K-8 special education programs in small group or 1:1 settings, assisting with toileting, lifting, feeding, and mobility needs.
- Assist at Raytown High School’s Functional Skills program (grades 9-12), helping with work skills, foundational academics, and supporting students in general education classes such as Health, PE, and Family and Consumer Sciences.
- Maintain mobility within the school to support student transitions and activities.
Qualifications:
- Experience working with children with disabilities in educational settings.
- Valid paraprofessional credential required, such as:
• 60 college credit hours OR
• Passed ParaPro Assessment or equivalent certification as outlined by Missouri standards.
• Completed the 20-hour Substitute Certificate Course is also acceptable. - Physical ability to assist with behavior management and mobility.
- Experience or certification such as Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) is a bonus.
- Medical support experience preferred for some assignments.
