This flexible, contract-based opportunity in the North Kansas City area centers on providing vital assistance in special education (SPED) classrooms across a wide district network, primarily serving elementary through high school students. Candidates will receive notifications and select shifts using the Spindle app. You’ll support students with behavioral intervention plans (BIPs), work in 1:1 or classroom aide assignments, and may assist with toileting or additional behaviors. Assignments are on a per diem basis, offering a unique chance to tailor your availability. Schedules vary by school level (middle school hours: 7:00-2:30, high school: 7:30-3:00, elementary school: 8:30-4:00 or 9:00-4:30). You’ll be compensated at a non-negotiable $24.50 per hour, receiving payment only for shifts worked.
Qualifications:
- Active substitute or paraprofessional certification with the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE) required (in-process candidates accepted if active by start date)
- Successful fingerprinting for North Kansas City district
- Prior experience in schools supporting students with behavioral needs
- Familiarity with BIPs; willingness to assist with toileting when needed
- Tech-savvy: must use the Spindle app to accept assignments
