Classroom Assistant | Independence, Missouri

Enjoy the flexibility of per diem scheduling, working with students in special education classrooms—primarily in elementary settings—across 33 schools.

In this role, you’ll provide essential support to both students and teachers, often working 1:1, as a classroom aide, or assisting with students who have behavioral needs and BIPs. Flexibility is key, as the schedule is based on daily call-outs, ranging from one to five days per week, with shifts available at different times based on school level:

• Middle School: 7:00 AM – 2:30 PM
• High School: 7:30 AM – 3:00 PM
• Elementary: 8:30 AM – 4:00 PM or 9:00 AM – 4:30 PM

What We're Looking For:

• Active substitute certificate with the Department of Elementary and Secondary Education (DESE), or in the process of obtaining it (certificate must be active prior to starting)
• Fingerprinting for district clearance (unique code required for each district)
• Demonstrated experience in school settings, especially working with special education and behavioral needs
• Comfort assisting with toileting as needed
• Willingness to accept assignments as they come via our easy Spindle app
