Classroom Assistant | Independence, Missouri

Empower the next generation by supporting students in the classroom as a contract paraprofessional. This opportunity, based near Independence, MO, will allow you to foster success at the elementary level through meaningful, one-on-one interaction. You’ll work closely with a student at Chapel Hill Elementary, contributing to a positive school experience throughout the assignment.

Key Qualifications:

• Active substitute certificate through DESE
• Previous experience supporting students in schools, including those with behavioral needs
• Commitment to completing fingerprints with the district-specific code as required
• Reliable transportation to ensure punctual attendance
• Professionalism, flexibility, and effective communication skills

Primary Responsibilities:

• Serve as dedicated 1:1 support for an elementary student, helping implement behavior and academic plans
• Collaborate with teachers and classroom staff to create an inclusive learning environment
• Supervise and provide positive guidance during classroom activities and transitions
• Assist with daily classroom routines and individualized instruction
• Monitor student progress and document observations as requested by educational staff

Role Details:

• Hours: 9:00am – 4:25pm, Monday through Friday
• Contract dates: Immediate start through the end of October
• Placement at a vibrant elementary school with a focus on student-centered support
