Support students one-on-one in a dynamic educational environment near Jersey City, NJ, as a contract paraprofessional. Qualifications & Preferred Experience:

  • Previous experience as a paraprofessional in school settings is highly desired.
  • Comfortable and skilled in providing 1:1 support, preferably with pediatric or school-aged learners.
  • Understanding of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavioral strategies.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively with students, teachers, and families.
  • Compassionate, patient, and reliable; able to maintain a supportive, nurturing presence throughout the day.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond to varying student needs and classroom routines.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Provide direct, hands-on assistance to a specific student during class, lunch, recess, and other school activities.
  • Implement strategies and accommodations as outlined in the student’s IEP or teacher directions.
  • Encourage student participation, social engagement, and independence while offering needed support.
  • Monitor student safety, well-being, and progress, reporting concerns to teachers or school administrators as necessary.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive classroom atmosphere by modeling respectful, encouraging interactions.
  • Support classroom routines and collaborate with teachers and school staff to ensure consistency and continuity of care.
