Make a positive difference in a student’s educational journey by working as a dedicated paraprofessional at a busy high school in the Jim Thorpe area. This full-time contract opportunity runs from August 21, 2026, through June 4, 2027, and offers the chance to provide one-on-one support for a student in the Life Skills program. You’ll play an important role in helping this student—who has autism and needs a consistent routine to stay safe and engaged—remain in the classroom and on school grounds.
Key Qualifications:
- Prior experience in a school setting as a paraprofessional or similar support role
- Comfortable and confident managing students exhibiting maximum behavioral needs
- Skilled in working 1:1 with students who have autism or developmental disabilities
- Ability to follow, reinforce, and adapt daily routines for student success
- Strong communicator, patient, and team-oriented
Responsibilities:
- Work daily from approximately 7:15 am to 3:00 pm (may be adjusted as needed)
- Support a single student with autism in navigating classroom and school routines
- Assist with behavioral interventions and help implement IEP goals
- Encourage engagement in academic and life skills activities as directed by teachers
- Ensure the student remains safe and within supervised areas throughout the school day
- Collaborate with school staff to ensure continuity and consistency
