Instructional Assistant - Jim Thorpe, PA

Rewarding opportunities are available for dedicated paraprofessionals to support students in a school setting for the upcoming academic year. Multiple full-time contract roles are available, with workdays Monday through Friday, totaling 35 hours weekly. These positions begin August 21, 2026, and finish June 4, 2027. Applicants must have prior school experience and must currently reside within commuting distance, as travel candidates are not being considered.

Role A: Work 1:1 with a high school student in the Life Skills program with autism. The student thrives on routine; consistency is vital to support them in remaining in the classroom and building. The ability to confidently manage challenging behaviors is essential, as this student can become overwhelmed when routines change. Hours are approximately 7:15am–3pm.

Role B: Provide 1:1 support to a student at a vocational/technical program (located across the street from the high school). Duties include assisting with books, desk, and locker organization, and accompanying the student on the bus between locations.

Role C: Support a first-grade student with cerebral palsy by assisting with feeding, changing, repositioning, and schoolwork. Physical support is required; the student weighs under 50 pounds.

Qualifications:

• Proven experience working in school settings as a paraprofessional
• Comfort supporting students with a range of behavioral, developmental, or physical needs
• Ability to commit to a full academic year
• Patience, adaptability, and strong communication skills

Responsibilities:

• Deliver caring, consistent 1:1 assistance to assigned student
• Support educational, behavioral, and daily living needs as directed
