Desired Qualifications:
- Previous experience working with children with disabilities in educational settings
- Missouri substitute certificate or successful completion of the ParaPro/Paraprofessional assessment(s) as required
- Minimum of 60 college credit hours or the equivalent certification
- Strong background handling social/emotional learning needs, de-escalation, and behavioral interventions
- Physical ability to assist with toileting, lifting, feeding, and mobility support
- Comfortable with occasional physical management or elopement situations
- Bonus for Registered Behavior Technician (RBT) certification
- Prior experience, or comfort, in small group and 1:1 educational support environments
- Medical background advantageous for roles supporting students with medical needs
Key Responsibilities:
- Work 35 hours per week alongside special education teachers across elementary, K-8, and high school settings
- Serve as an instructional assistant, supporting both academic and social/emotional learning initiatives
- Engage in direct support of self-contained classrooms, managing behavioral challenges and assisting with physical needs
- Provide 1:1 and small group support, focusing on developing functional, social, and foundational academic skills
- Support general education classes and functional skills programs such as task-based activities and vocational training
- Maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive classroom environment
