Make a difference every day supporting students as a dedicated classroom instructional assistant in the greater Kansas City area! This contract opportunity is ideal for experienced paraprofessionals with a passion for helping children with disabilities thrive in a K-12 special education environment.

In this role, you'll support students predominantly in elementary classrooms, including a self-contained social/emotional learning program for K-5, as well as specialized support settings for K-8 and high school students. Responsibilities range from behavioral support, de-escalation, and physical management to assisting with life skills and foundational academics. You'll work alongside teachers in very small group and one-on-one situations, ensuring each student receives the attention and encouragement they need.

Key Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with children with disabilities in a school setting
  • Sub certificate or paraprofessional assessment (ParaPro, Pearson, or ETS) required per Missouri state guidelines
  • Physically able to assist with student mobility, behavior de-escalation, and occasional physical management or elopement
  • Comfort and experience with toileting, lifting, feeding, and mobility tasks as needed
  • Experience in social/emotional learning or medical support settings is highly valued
  • RBT certification is a plus, though not required
  • Flexibility to work across K-12 environments, from self-contained elementary to functional skills programs in high school

Responsibilities:

  • Support students through individualized and small group instruction
  • Assist in classwork, behavior plans, and physical tasks as needed
  • Collaborate with educators and therapists to foster a safe, nurturing learning environment
  • Provide assistance in general education classes and specialized programs

Contract Details:

  • 35 hours per week, Monday–Friday, consistent school-year schedule
